Anzu could feel his escalated heart rate against her own chest, a smile rising on her lips. His heart was a drum she would have loved to have danced to. She nuzzled against his jaw line, a hand moving to his neck as she gently stroked the soft surface with her finger tips. His scent was still strong, and she wanted to have more of it. She took in a deep breath, a small sigh of relief coming from her. She never thought she could take comfort with someone like this before. His arms felt like they were made for her, and his body just seemed to make her feel like the only person in the world. He was so addictive to her, she didn’t want to stay away from him for very long.
At his words, she batted her eyes softly. Alone. She wondered if he felt that as often as she did. Yes, she had herself surrounded by her friends, but so often did she fear being alone. The haunts in her minds made being alone almost unbearable. Fears rose up when she was. She would more than rather have someone she hated near by than be alone anymore. She felt weak for the need to depend on someone else, when she had been so strong before. She supposed that was what happened when you got used to being with someone to support them. Her head tried to raise up, but she felt his hand on her back. He was holding her close, and didn’t want her to leave. She knew that sort of grip on another person. Her smile shadowed her lips again. “You don’t ever have to be alone again, Dark. I’ll always be here for you.” Her words were sweet and honest. If she did all she could, she would never leave his side again.
Her fingers grazed his skin. She had pondered how he was created. Someone so perfect for her must have had some insight on what he was made for, but she knew she could not be so egotistical. She hadn’t even been planned for this world in the first place. She had a home now, and someone she cared about deeply. That small itch in the back of her mind still wanted to shove him down on the bed and take him as her own, but she let it go. There was no use. The most she might get would be if she was able to stay the night. Which, she wondered if he might want. “Dark…It is getting late…Do you want me to stay here, or…?” She shifted her head to where she was resting it on his shoulder while she looked up at him. Her heart just wanted to stay near his.
He smiled when he felt her nuzzle against him, her hand at his throat, and he hummed quietly at the pause that appeared. He was growing to love whenever she was close to him, it just seemed to help him relax instantly. His fingers gently stroked her back, only freezing when her words hit his ear. Normally, the thought of being alone didn’t bother him, but being without Anzu? It scared him more than he would like to admit. Slowly his body unfroze until he relaxed against her again, her words setting his mind at rest. He didn’t understand all of these feelings yet, but he knew he never wanted to let Anzu go.
His glowing eyes opened, which he hadn’t realized that he had closed, as she spoke, glancing to where her head was nestled on his shoulder. Did she want to leave? His heart skipped, not wanting her to go. He wanted her close, especially after all they had told each other hours earlier. Although a part of his mind reminded him of his current “problem”
that was not as bad, but was still there, how awkward that whole situation was going to be if she stayed. But ignoring his brain and taking a breath, Dark nodded, scrapping the thought of being a bit passive-aggressive with his answer. “I want you stay. I want you here tonight, with me.” A bit blunt, but better than sounding wishy-washy on his answer. The hand at her back slipped upwards to rub the back of her neck.
She could feel the fluctuations of his heartbeat with how close he was to her. The warmth of his body made her relax in his arms. She knew that she had slept over before, but she had not quite been in her right mind. They had no health and no ability to even try anything until after they had woken up. That was when those strange feelings had first arose. When she knew she couldn’t be apart from him for very long. His very existence made her the happiest in the world. Part of her wanted to put a label on it and be done with it, but they were not that simple. The one who didn’t know what love was and the lost girl. It seemed almost poetic.
Her eyes widened at his blunt answer. She had not been expecting that at all. She was expecting him to maybe revert to his normal self or be not so eager to say. Yet, he laid it out for her. A bright smile was her main answer. “Then I’ll stay.” She nodded a bit, brushing her lips against his neck again. She knew she would have to resist as best as she could, since she knew she would want to sleep next to him again. He never did mention anything about her nightmares or if she had screamed while she was next to him. She wondered if his presence alone had allowed her to sleep well.
Her head rose as she lifted up her hand, extending out two fingers to him. “On two conditions.” She tried to sound serious, but it didn’t work very well. Not right now. “One. I have to sleep in the bed. You can join me if you want.” She winked at him, giving him a playful smile, fully expecting his stay. “Two, I don’t want to sleep in my clothes again. Can I borrow a shirt or something to sleep in?” She hadn’t exactly planned to stay the night, and she knew that she could wear her clothes again tomorrow. But, she wanted to be comfortable. The only other option was for her to sleep in her underwear, but she had a small inkling that the clothing wouldn’t last very long on her body if he slept with her like that.
